Our Story...

Alisha was in her final year of uni. She knew that this meant she had to make some choices. She couldn’t afford distractions or to be wasting time thinking about boys, love or anything of the kind. Her one and only goal was to graduate with results she was proud of and if that meant sacrificing one year of her life, then so be it! Alisha meant business…but it’s all about balance right?! Her friends knew this. With this in mind, one of her childhood friends persuaded her to come along to a housewarming party on evening. Get some fresh air she said…just for an hour she said, and sure enough, that’s when she first laid eyes on Kevin…and everyone else that was there. Alisha wasn’t looking for her handsome prince remember, she was going to graduate. She went back to her studies that night, but Kevin couldn’t stop thinking about her, ‘that hot blonde girl’, that he just HAD to get to know..
Without wasting any time, Kevin invited both Kim, her hot friend and a bunch of others to a BBQ at his place. Perfectly casual and a splendid opportunity to chat to this gorgeous girl, Kevin was excited. Unbeknown to Kevin, Alisha was flattered…but not at all interested. She couldn’t waste any more time on finding love. Not Now. Not this year…but Kim really wanted to go…and she had to eat right. After a lovely evening, spent with good company and great food, it wasn’t long after that Kevin asked Alisha out on a more intimate date, that didn’t include any of their friends, just the two of them…There was a perfect little italian restaurant that would just make it such a romantic date, plus a movie = perfecto! Alisha had sworn that she would never eat saucy pasta on a first date, given she admits to not being very good with the whole twirly fork on a spoon thing, but her dinner manners mustn’t have been that bad…as they continued to spend time together after that, often with Kevin visiting the bar where Alisha worked in the evenings to ‘sit and study’. One evening when Alisha finally got a night off, they attended one of Kevin’s friends gig’s together and spent the entire night dancing and laughing, before heading back to Kevin’s to party the night away with some of his friends. Kevin was such a gentleman, letting Alisha sleep in a private room and he on the couch, staying awake so that when she woke, she wouldn’t feel alone and uncomfortable in a house she wasn’t familiar with. Kevin is thoughtful like that.
As time passed, they had to make some decisions about where the relationship was headed, given that Kevin’s visa dictated that he had to leave the country no later then the 14th of February 2013, Valentines day and all! Alisha made the decision to move to the Netherlands with him, knowing very well that this would either make or break their relationship. Luckily, Alisha quickly realised that Kevin was not only this thoughtful, amazing guy but he was also her best friend now and the one person that she could trust with the most vulnerable parts of herself. This decision was certainly the right one. Returning to Australia has been another challenge, as Alisha’s Dutch Visa had expired and Kevin’s Australian Visa was still waiting approval…six months apart, the worst six months of both of their lives, but finally they are now together again in Australia and ready to start the next chapter in their lives as husband and wife!
The Proposal
Kevin had been working in Manilla for seven weeks and returned to attend Alisha’s ’Great Gatsby’ themed party. What we need to tell you, is that Alisha LOVES fancy dress parties…she decorates the house and goes all out (how fun!). Kevin was all full of surprises this visit, surprising Alisha by arriving a day earlier than he said he would and needless to say, he had much bigger surprises in store for his gorgeous girl! All dressed up in 1920′s inspired cocktails dresses and suits, Kevin put on the song ‘Don’t want
to miss a thing’ and called Alisha over. She immediately thought he just wanted to have a ‘slow dance’ and joked about it as she walked over to him. But what followed was not a dance, but a speech in front of all their friends at the party, proclaiming his love for Alisha and bending on one knee, asking her to marry him…! She said yes of course! In his words, given that he is a musician, he told Alisha that was one performance he will never forget…and neither will she (or all of their friends i’m sure!)
